Riyadh to host Six Kings Slam tennis tournament soon
The world's leading tennis players have been lured to Riyadh by impressive cash prizes. Saudi Arabia is actively attracting the attention of the tennis community by organizing large-scale events and inviting famous players.
The Six Kings Slam tournament will be held as part of the Riyadh Season festival in Riyadh. Stars such as Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, Jannik Sinner and Holger Rune will meet on the courts of the Kingdom Arena. The tournament will be held on October 16, 17 and 19, with a break on the 18th to comply with ATP regulations prohibiting exhibition matches from being held on three consecutive days.
The highly anticipated event highlights Saudi Arabia’s ambition to become a centre for major international sporting events. The country has previously successfully hosted events in football, Formula One and golf. Now, with generous prizes on offer, it is making a significant move into tennis. The tournament promises to bring together the best in men’s singles, attracting spectators from around the world and helping to popularise tennis.
The tournament will have a prize pool of over $13 million, with $6 million going to the winner. Each of the participants, regardless of the result, will receive $1.5 million. However, it is worth noting that the tournament will not feature female players, which has drawn criticism from legends such as Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert, who have pulled out of hosting the WTA Finals in Saudi Arabia.
The tournament was originally scheduled to take place earlier, but was postponed to October due to Rafael Nadal's injury. The tournament promises to be a showcase of the skill and tenacity of tennis superstars, offering fans unforgettable matches and moments. The organizers recently released a stunning five-minute promotional video directed by Los Perez, which can be compared to a Hollywood blockbuster.
The tennis spectacle, which will feature six of the biggest names in tennis, including Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, will be held as part of the season in Riyadh and will not count towards the ATP ranking points.
